Howells Veterinary Services are always on the look-out for enthusiastic employees who will deliver an excellent service to our clients and help develop our veterinary practice. As a fiercely independent, family run practice we pride ourselves on providing a high standard of care to our pet owners, farm clients, horse owners, pig and poultry producers alike. Therefore we look for only the most motivated and talented individuals to join our team. In return we will offer you our commitment to continued professional development and “on the job” training, a supportive and nurturing environment to work in and the opportunity to fulfil your career potential. If you have the qualities we look for and are interested in joining our team, please do not hesitate to contact us by email. Work Experience and Extra Mural Studies (EMS) We are happy to support veterinary students who are seeking EMS within a mixed practice. As we strive to give you exposure to a wide range of species and clinical cases we expect our students to be attentive, proactive, prepared for anything and above all, mindful that they are in a privileged position of dealing with real clients. You must be able to demonstrate your interest in all aspects of mixed practice in your application for EMS as only the most committed students will be engaged. Veterinary Students typically experience;

  • Farm work (Dairy, Cattle, Beef) – routine visits and emergency work
  • Small animals – first opinion practice with plenty of consulting and surgery
  • Equine
  • Pigs – considerable amount of routine and advisory pig work
  • Poultry

Demand for student placements is high and must be booked at least 3 months in advance.  We particularly welcome applications from students with an interest in pigs.  To apply, contact the Practice Manager with information about your areas of interest, details of the course you are following (including the year you are in), your experience to date and the dates you are applying for.  Email Please note we do not accept students under the age of 16 years.
